What is You Little Ripper?

You Little Ripper is asking Australian's to sacrifice their chest, leg, arm, or belly hair for families facing childhood cancer.

When is You Little Ripper?

You Little Ripper is open for registrations now and we’re asking you to take part from 1st – 31st October. You will have the option to choose a date to wax in October.

How does my fundraising help?

The money raised through You Little Ripper will ensure that Redkite can continue to give families the strength they need to face childhood cancer. Specifically, you’re fundraising will help provide more families with financial assistance, counselling and practical information and support so they are empowered to navigate through the crisis of childhood cancer.

How do I get sponsors?

The simple answer is just ask people. To help you, when you sign up, we’ll give you your very own fundraising page where you can upload photos, post videos to your timeline, choose a goal and tell your story. Copy and paste the link to your fundraising page and post it on social media, SMS your mates, email your challenge to your favourite colleagues and ask them to back your challenge.

You’ll also have additional tools to support you to get donations. From within your fundraising dashboard, you can send emails asking for donations. Log in and click Get Support > Share and Invite. The email will contain a link to your fundraising page, where people can contribute with their credit card – easy! 

Note – if you are sharing your fundraising on an Instagram story, you will need to direct people to your bio. In your bio is where you can add your link to your fundraising page.

When can I start fundraising?

You can start asking for donations as soon as you register. In fact, starting early will make fundraisine easy. Remember that by asking someone to donate to you, you are allowing them to support an extremely worthwhile cause. So cast your net wide, family and friends, colleagues, business contacts, staff from other businesses in your building, suppliers, clients, neighbours etc.

Where can I get fundraising tips and ideas?

We will send you awesome fundraising tips and tricks throughout the campaign via email so keep a look out for them.

Can I run a prize draw to raise funds?

You can run a small raffle or trade promotion in aid of a charity, but the rules vary from state to state. It depends on how valuable the prizes are and whether you are selling tickets or giving a free access in return for a donation. You’ll need to check with your local state government’s lotteries and gaming department. Our Redkite fundraising coordinator will help you with any enquiries you may have, contact us on community@redkite.org.au or 02 9219 4000.

Do I ask for money before or after I wax?

Start fundraising before you wax so you know what the challenge is worth for families facing childhood cancer.    

Fundraising after you've sacrificed your hair is important too, as everyone can already see how committed you are to the cause.  

Spread the word and fundraise online or get creative and raise money at work and in your community.

How can someone sponsor me by credit card?

Log in to your fundraising dashboard > click Ask for donations. You can send an email that contains a link to your personal fundraising page, making it easy for people to click “Donate to me” and complete their credit card sponsorship online. 
 
If you are out and don’t have your fundraising page URL handy, you can ask your donors to visit www.youlittleripper.org.au > click the Sponsor someone button > search for you. Once they’ve found your Fundraising page it’s easy to click “Donate” and complete their credit card donation online. A tax-deductible receipt is sent by email directly to your sponsor.  

Can I create a QR Code?

Your QR code is ready for you to download and share. In your dashboard go to the Get Support page and scroll down to the QR Code button. You can save your QR Code and share it in any way to collect donations – in person, SMS, Emails etc.

Can I show on my Profile Page what people have pledged before I bank the money?

Our system only displays your funds that have been donated. Online methods - credit card or PayPal display immediately.

Why is my fundraising page and my Facebook fundraising page showing two different amounts raised?

If you have chosen to set up a Facebook Fundraiser as well as a fundraising page your funds will not sync up and directly match. Facebook send us 100% of the funds that you raise approximately every 60 days.

Donating

Are my online donations secure?

All your donations are powered by Stripe. All transactions are SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protected. Your information and your donor’s information are securely transmitted during the processing of all payments.

How do I sponsor someone?

Search for the participant - click here. 

Type in their name > arrive at their online fundraising page > click the red “Donate” button > complete the form with your credit card details. We’ll email you with a tax-deductible receipt.  

Can my donation be anonymous?

You can request for your name and/or your donation amount to be hidden on the participant's online fundraising page. If you do, your name and/or amount will appear as "Anonymous".   

As you make your donation, you’ll be asked if you’re happy to display your name and the amount on the participant’s online page - tick the boxes as desired.   

Are donations tax-deductable?

All donations over $2.00 are tax-deductible. You will receive a tax receipt by email as soon as the payment goes through. 

Can I get a new tax receipt?

If you misplace your tax receipt, we can issue a duplicate. Give us a call on 02 9219 4000 or email community@redkite.org.au with the details of your donation, and we’ll email you a replacement.

I’m having trouble donating.

An error message may indicate your card was declined or the transaction failed for some reason.  

Please check that the card number and expiry date you are entering are correct. Confirm that there are sufficient funds available, and the card is valid.   

Check your credit card statement to see if we charged the transaction to your account.  

If there’s been a problem, contact us.

Paying in money

We ask that you bank any cash collected as soon as you can. There are lots of easy ways to pay-in

Pay-in cash given to you, from your credit card.

Log in to your fundraising dashboard and go to My donations”> Add Offline Donation. 
You can list family and friends’ names on your timeline and pay in the funds using a credit card. If you need to, you can also issue receipts for the donations. 

At the bank

Collect all the cash and cheques and take them to any branch of Westpac. Give us a call for the bank details.

How do I sign up?

You can register for You Little Ripper here and start to get fundraising today.

Who can take part?

Whether you’re an individual, workplace, team, or a bunch of buddies keen to show you care – You can take part in the You Little Ripper Challenge.

When you sign up, we’ll help you kick off you’re fundraising and start planning.

Together, we’ll help families cover utility and other essential household bills, receive mental and emotional support from Redkite counsellors, and connect to other families who know what having a child with cancer is like, and offer help wherever and whenever its needed.

Is there an age limit?

Yes, 18 or over.

Will I receive a fundraising kit in the post?

You will receive a welcome fundraising kit in the post, packed with wax strips and some temporary tattoos to wear as a badge of honour post waxing.

Can a team of us take part?

Absolutely. You can get a team onboard, either your friends, family, or workplace. When you sign up, just tick ‘Create a Team’. Alternatively, you can go to your fundraising dashboard, go to create a team, and follow the instructions.

How do I join a team?

Sign up > click join a team > search for the group you want to join > select the team’s name > fill in your details. 

I signed up as an individual and would like to create a team.

If you signed up as an individual and other people want to join you, you can upgrade to a team.  
Log in > click ‘CREATE A TEAM’ (next to my page) > create a team. Easy peasy.  

Can I download the You Little Ripper logo?

We offer various graphics to brighten up your email signature and social media accounts. Please look at our useful resources, here you will also find a logo lock up for our brilliant community supporters to use, you don’t need permission to use these. If you still require our logo, contact us.

Can I change my date of my waxing to November?

We understand life gets in the way and you may need to move your date of your waxing for sometime in November. Just give us the team a call on 02 9219 4000 or via email at community@redkite.org.au and we will be able to help.

We are a not-for-profit organisation that provides financial, emotional, and practical support to families affected by childhood cancer because childhood cancer needs more than medicine. Childhood cancer can be stressful, expensive, and disruptive. These challenges can affect parents, brothers, sisters, and partners. Your fundraising will help provide information and support, financial assistance and professional counselling for families facing childhood cancer.

What can I do when I log in?

When you log in to your fundraising dashboard, you have access to a set of fundraising tools and downloads. This is your secure fundraising dashboard that only you can see. 

  • You can set a fundraising goal , add a photo and your story. 
  • Create a Facebook Fundraiser 
  • You can send emails and share on social media to ask for donations and track your fundraising results.  
  • You can Get Support and create your own individual QR code
  • You can thank your donors by writing them a personalised thank you email. 
  • You can create a team and recruit team members by sending emails asking people to join your team.  
  • You can update any of your event and contact details and even change your password.  
  • You can accept or delete comments from donors.  

 

What is my Fundraising Page?

Your Fundraising Profile Page is the page people see when they search for you on the website.   

Take a ‘before’ photo and make it your profile pic. Then update your page with your story, letting everyone know why you are undergoing your hero transformation.   

Update your page along your You Little Ripper journey to get your donors excited! Use it regularly to post photos, video updates or thank you messages.  

Don’t forget to add your wax photo on the day!  

How do people find my Fundraising Page?

Your donors can search for you on our website by clicking the ‘Sponsor someone’ button. They will need to search for your name or your team’s name. Once they’ve found your fundraising page, they can click the ‘Donate’ button.  

You can also login> click MY PAGE > send an email to your friends and family containing your unique link.  Or > next to Your Page link > click on the Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn icons to share your unique link on social. 

How do I make changes to my Fundraising Page?

Log in and use the menu items on the top to navigate the area you would like to update. Most updates can also be made from the main page.

Is there an age limit?

Why do I have to agree to the terms and conditions?

It is a requirement of our insurance cover that we have clear policies and to make everyone aware of the health and safety aspects of participating in You Little Ripper.
